The Official Las Aguas Study of the Disparity of Wealth

The ladies of Las Aguas have recently adopted the custom of comparing the cost of almost everything to how long we could live at El Presidente's $5/ night cabinas down in Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica (even though we're not going back on our upcoming journey).
Above is a picture of the very lavish, yet cozy, accomodations at El Presidente's...the cabinas we fortunately discovered, with a little help from some Canadians, back in early December after spending a week in a not-so-cheap condo in Tamarindo.

FACTS & FIGURES

1 Dinner for Two at Foreign Cinema* = 20 nights at El Presidente's

1 Facial (and products you're duped into buying)** = 30 nights (1 month)

1 Night at Shutters or Casa*** = 80 nights (2.75 months)

1 Chloe Handbag**** = 1-year

1 Bottle of Chateau d'Yquiem (a wine we were fortunate enough to sip in Aspen)***** = 6000 nights (16.5 years)

This is an interesting way to look at how we spend our money...for a bit... it could get old.

*Prices may vary depending on how hungry you are.
** San Francisco facial prices fluctuate every-so-often, most often up.
***The gang has spent many a month on production enjoying these rooms.

****No one in the gang actually has one of these bags.

Brilliant! I know the figures are a little off... but next time I splurge on anything, I will definitely think about those alternatives! ;)
